About Hey Skipper
Hi, my name is Dewald Visser, I am an adventurer and outdoor enthusiast from a small rural Swartland “dorpie” called Porterville. I currently live in beautiful Cape Town South Africa and loving life in general.
As a film maker and content creator for the last 25 years I have travelled the world producing content that suits my lifestyle and 99% of the time this will be something to do with the great outdoors.
Let me introduce you to our latest TV show concept, called HEY SKIPPER. As an explorer and Adventurer with a love for all water based activities, this 13 episode series, will showcase both the scenic beauty of Africa and its marine world as well as international destinations.
Hey Skipper, is a Primetime TV series on kykNET (Channel 144) on DSTV every Saturday at 18h00 from 4 July 2026.
Hey Skipper promises to take viewers on an unforgettable journey on a variety of boats and sea vessels.
On every episode I will travel to one of Cape Nature’s Marine Protect Areas (MPA) to explore what the local coastline and inland waterways have to offer the intrepid traveller.
From a sailing expedition with a catamaran in the Seychelles to island adventures in tropical waters with some locals on a Dhow in Mozambique, there is simply no end to the places that will be discovered during the series.
One of the main focus points of Hey Skipper is showcasing local and global marine conservation projects.
In each country we will link up with different organizations doing their best to protect a part of the ocean in designated Marine Protected areas.
With Suzuki and their Global Clean Ocean Projects, we will research what impact these environmental initiatives have achieved on our oceans.
With local operator and researchers, we travel offshore to areas where new coral reefs are being introduced and explore a new seaweed forest coming to life. We look at how technology is playing its part in keeping humans away from sharks as well as how micro plastics and other foreign objects are destroying our marine heritage.
We focus on local companies making a difference in protecting our marine resources, by actively being involved in clean ups and education initiatives.
During our visit to the different countries, we learn more about how the locals use watercraft to carry out their day-to-day tasks living a sustainable existence with the sea.
The underwater paradise is what we are looking for and we scuba on some of the most beautiful reefs off the coast. We explore fish species while free diving picturesque shipwrecks, and swim with Whale Sharks, dolphins, Turtles and seals.
Hey Skipper, is a new kind of TV production where the presenter makes the viewer feel part of the show and allows them to travel with him on water adventures unlike anything seen before on TV screens.
